What did the founder of Ghibli Studio thought of AI?

Studio Ghibli is the Japanese animation studio that is widely popular for its unique and “comforting” art style, featured in award-winning animated movies such as Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, Howl’s Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, and Grave of the Fireflies. The founder of Studio Ghibli is Hayao Miyazaki.

There was a video uploaded to YouTube in 2016 (eight years ago today) where Mr. Miyazaki was presented with an AI demonstration of how it could be used in animation production. The AI was intended to help capture the movement of characters. You can see his reaction and response to the presentation, as well as whether he will use AI in his animations:

I wonder how Mr.Miyazaki react to the trend earlier this year (in 2025) where everybody putting their photos into ChatGPT and turn them into Ghibli animation lookalike style….
