example of the Apple’s website Site Title, Page Title and Meta Description showing up on Google results.
When setting up SEO for a new website, setting up the site title, page title, and meta description are the most important tasks, as these are the first impression of your website that visitors see in search results but are often overlooked. Here’s a quick rundown of what they mean and how to set them up to attract visitors and boost SEO:
Site Title
This is the title of your website. Google will display this for your website and link it to the homepage. It should include your brand, business name, location, services, and the type of products you are selling. You can set this up in WordPress under Settings > General.

Page Title
The title for each of your web pages should use the same keywords you’ve set in the <h1> tag and the URL. Make it attractive by using “power words,” numbers, or lists in your page title and blog title, like “best of,” “number one,” “top 10,” etc.
Remember to think about your page title when designing the website. Add the page titles as you build each page and before moving on to the next one.
Note: Ensure that your Site Title and Homepage Title are the same.

Meta Description
This is also the excerpt of a blog post and will describe the content of the page, primarily for human eyes rather than bots, so you don’t need many keywords. Just describe the page’s content in the best way you can.
You can set the meta description within your SEO plugin for each page. This will most likely appear right below the page/site title in search results, so you don’t need to duplicate the title.
Note: Not all the time will Google show the meta description you’ve set; it may use other content from the page instead. It’s recommended to use the actual content of the page for the meta description for the best results.
The usual time for Google to update the site title, page title, and meta description may take a week or even months, depending on the traffic to your website and how often Google crawls it. So, please don’t be discouraged if you don’t see the changes right away.
