Schedule it or it won’t get done

Date posted: June 17, 2025

I’ve been pretty busy with work and other responsibilities. My goal of reading and meditating every day seems like such a luxury I can’t afford—there’s always some stuff that comes up and people who require my attention. If I leave things to do when I “have time to do them,” I would never get around to actually doing them. That’s why I have to schedule my day, setting up a habit list of things I need to do before the day ends. The habit list includes reading 10 pages and meditating for at least 10 minutes every day. It’s not going to be perfect every day; some days, all you can do is show up and get it done the best way you can while still respecting the task—without cheating or doing it half-heartedly. The only person you’re cheating or robbing of the benefit is yourself.

Even with writing for the blog post every day, it’s 12:26 AM, and I’m just writing it now for yesterday. It seems like no ideas came during working hours, so I feel like I’m just rushing to continue the streak and check off another item on my habit list. I need to read more and learn more throughout the day, write earlier instead of leaving it so late, which eventually disrupts my bedtime routine and affects my sleep hygiene.

How about your habit list? What are some small habits you want to incorporate into your life that will bring more meaning and help you become the person you want to be? Try to find time for them in the nooks and crannies of your day, because you will never “have the time” for them. To “have the time,” you must “make the time.”
