Running on empty – Running Diary

Date posted: May 20, 2025

It was a hot and humid run at the park, as always. Luckily, it was cloudy, despite my starting the run at 9:30 in the morning. I’m practicing not eating after 6 p.m., so the last meal I had for this run was at 3 p.m. the night before, and I even went to Jiu-Jitsu in between.

My mind was murky and couldn’t seem to focus. There was a lot of mental strength involved, even though this was just a 33-minute recovery run.

I ran for 4.7 km before tapping out; my legs, mind, and strength weren’t there during the run. Also, the fact that the guided run today talked about food and nutrition didn’t help my case, haha. I could have enjoyed the run more and get a lot out of it if I had just eaten something beforehand.

I made a mental note to eat something before every run.
