Remember to fact-check your AI

Date posted: August 16, 2025

I’ve been figuring out how to build an image marquee loop effect for my wedding website using GSAP with BricksBuilder and Bricksforge. I decided to use ChatGPT, along with a reference link to the effect I want, asking it to help me replicate this effect using the aforementioned tools.

After an hour of copying and pasting while following the instructions suggested by ChatGPT, I realized it’s just… guessing based on the information it gathered from the internet. For example, it suggested enabling the Modifiers Plugin from the Bricksforge settings out of its own imagination:

Later, ChatGPT asked if I wanted the JSON file prepared to import directly into BricksBuilder as a template. The JSON file looked credible enough but couldn’t import into Bricks due to an error: “Template insert failed: This template has no data.” I asked it to try rebuilding the JSON file a couple of times, but to no avail. So, either I need a better prompt, or ChatGPT still has a long way to go in handling coding projects and suggestions independently without a developer’s input.

I’ll get back to you about this effect soon. I need to research this the old-fashioned way.
