This is the first podcast I listened to by Hasan Minhaj. In this episode, Hasan interviews Dr. Gabor Maté, a physician focused on childhood development, trauma, mental health, ADHD, and addictions. In the short 1-hour interview, Hasan Minhaj and Dr. Gabor Maté discuss why Hasan is always late, how his childhood and his ADD condition affect his time sense, how his bad behavior leads him to be more critical of himself—turning confusion into self-hatred—how people become the way they are due to how their views of the world shape their being, actions, and behaviors, how trauma affects our thinking, and how to shift our perspective in a way that is more positive, empathetic, and beneficial to us. They also explore understanding what has affected us and taking responsibility for our actions.
This episode is truly eye-opening and provided answers to many questions I’ve struggled with and thought about a lot. I strongly encourage you to listen to the podcast. It has left me pondering and filled me with a sense of wonder and realization, a relief from understanding what has been on my mind. I’m looking to dive deeper and learn more.
