It has been a while since I ran solo, as most of my runs now are for conditioning training toward Jiu-Jitsu. I hardly train for long runs like I did before. I found a bit of free time at the end of the day to go for a recovery run, marking the end of what has been a busy week, with promises of an even busier week to come. Here are some of the ideas I collected from the guided session in Nike Run Club that I listened to during this run today:
- “Recovery is an act of retrieving what was lost or stolen.”
- “A lot of things could happen in a run. A run consists of moments: the moment you start, the moment you decide to keep going, and the moment you finish what you’ve set out to do.”
- “Every run consists of the preparation, the performance, and the recovery.”
- “Training the body helps the mind, and training the mind helps the body; the body and mind go hand in hand.”
- “This is about running; this is also not about running.”
I ran for 5.15 km in 35 minutes, feeling better and grateful to have started and finished the run. I hope that my body calms down in time for me to go to bed.
