I received an interesting contact today reaching out to ask for a website consult. The funny thing is, this is one of the handful of businesses I cold-emailed about 2-3 years ago, offering small feedback on their website and asking if they needed my services. There was no reply then, so I thought they ghosted me, like all the others, as expected from cold-emailing.
I followed up on their message, and we set up a meeting today over coffee to discuss potential projects. They shared that they were digging through old emails, and my email subject stood out since they’re in need of a web designer for their business, so they decided to give me a call. I was surprised, to say the least. The meeting went well, and I sent them the proposals soon after. They run a couple of businesses as well as startups and agreed that you should show yourself and your services/products to the public as much as possible. Maybe the customers don’t need it right now but might refer a friend; keep showing and sharing what you’re doing, and eventually, you will gather your crowd—you never know who is looking.
I need to focus more on marketing myself as well as utilizing social media and creating more content. I’m still a bit of an introvert when it comes to sharing, as I just want to stay by myself to study and hone my craft, but sharing and marketing are just as important—if not the most important—when it comes to building your business. I’m writing on this blog as a way to figure out my content as well as build the consistency of creating content every day.
Such an insightful day and a signal for me to focus more on marketing and outreach.
How about you? What marketing strategies are you using to build your brand and business? Please feel free to send me an email at hello@binhnguyen.me—I’d love to discuss further.
