A question you might often encounter when growing up is: ‘Are you a logical or an emotional person?’ This question focuses on how you usually make decisions. Do you listen to your heart and intuition, or your brain with facts and logic? People usually categorize themselves as one or the other.
Growing up, I’ve met people who made impulse decisions while claiming to be logical, and vice versa.
Emotions make us human. Why try to eliminate them from our decision-making process? Some of the best decisions in your life may be made on a whim. Logic draws from past experiences and research, leading to a statistical outcome that helps you feel more certain and prevents loss or disadvantage.
The question could instead be: ‘What pushes your buttons?’ I believe there are certain areas or situations where the emotional side, such as love or anger, can take charge immediately. Some areas need a logical approach, while others require an emotional touch. Like everything, logic and emotions is a scale that constantly tipping and the best everyone can do is try to balance them in the middle.
