Today is Tuesday, which means morning conditional training with my Jiu-Jitsu coaches, but it was unfortunately canceled due to sudden heavy rain. I was already on my way there when it started to rain, so I decided to continue training regardless.

Luckily, I brought my Shokz headphones with me. I put my stuff in the trunk of my bike and headed out. I ran for an hour, listening to music, feeling the rain hit my face, the cold that made it harder to sweat, and the water puddles that splashed when I ran through them, soaking my shoes. I was mindful of where I landed my feet so I wouldn’t slip.
There was only me running at the park in the middle of the rain; other park-goers sought shelter in gazebos and left when the rain eased. It rained throughout the run. I made good pace and covered a decent distance of 9 km in an hour. I then headed home, feeling refreshed and proud of myself for not letting the rain stop me.

I love these morning workouts. I feel that running in the rain is more mentally demanding than physically; it’s so easy and a valid excuse to stay home instead of drenching yourself in the cold, but that’s where you become tougher. Remember to stay safe running in the rain and prioritize your health, though.
Peace!
